1985年9月,弗爵爷的偶像、苏格兰名帅斯坦在妮妮安球场的边线上心脏病发,去世。弗爵爷代替他带队参加世界杯。1年后,爵爷来到老特拉福德执教。本周,在执教红魔第23年,爵爷又见到了亚当斯、斯科拉里失去自己的主帅工作,而纽卡的金尼尔则遭遇心脏病。
弗爵爷回忆1986年世界杯预选赛与威尔士的关键战中,他辅助斯坦时受到的压力。“下半场非常紧张。”爵爷说,“我妻子Cathy在看比赛电视直播,她后来告诉我,当镜头扫视过苏格兰教练席的时候,我看起来糟透了,就像我才是心脏病发的人。”
然而,24年后弗爵爷依然在执教。尽管期间923名教头在英格兰丢掉工作,这显示了教练这份工作的压力。去年一项数据显示,40%的英格兰教练有高血压,60%的教练胆固醇偏高。还有10%的因此而沉迷赌博。

弗爵爷:卫冕欧冠最重要 巴萨是NO1敌人

在马耳他接受球迷提问时,弗格森做出了自己的选择。“我认为我们也许有机会追平利物浦的纪录,但那不是我最重要的目标。”弗格森表示,“当你看看我们的欧战纪录,你会发觉曼联应该有更好的成绩。而且,欧冠还没有球队成功卫冕过,因此这是我们一个伟大的挑战,希望我们能够再次捧杯。”

你会担心曼联球迷对你有意见吗?
事实上没有,因为我不认为球迷会这么快就忘记我为俱乐部所做到的一切,当我在欧冠对比利亚雷亚尔的主场比赛上场时,曼联球迷对我的态度非常好,当我来到球场,我确实有一些压力,但随后发生的一切,正是我认为曼联球迷是世界上最好的原因,他们对我很好,不只是这个赛季,而是每一个赛季。

在里斯本和弗格森碰面,对你最后决定留下,有多大的影响?

在曼彻斯特,你能如常上街和生活吗?
这有点困难,不过我在曼彻斯特找到家的感觉,自我18岁起,我就在这里,所以我的生活不会有太多变化,当然,和在葡萄牙的时候,会有分别,但我喜欢这里的生活,我的家人也经常过来探望我,唯一不好的事情是,没有马德拉群岛直飞到这里的航班,不过我的母亲和姐妹,都喜欢来这里,这里是一个好的地方,有好的人,他们总是对我很好,没有人会给我带来任何麻烦,我的生活真的很好!

在作客的时候被嘘,会不会让你感到苦恼?
对我来说,这很正常,如果没有发生这样的事情,我反而会想,“为什么他们不嘘我?”这就是足球的一部分,或许他们会想,如果他们嘘我,我就会失去专注,但这样的事情不会发生:我喜欢被嘘!

有些人说你在球场上没有得到足够的保护,这种情况有改变吗?
裁判的工作很困难,当我受伤的时候,我有机会在训练场上担当裁判,其他人会走过来对我说,“快点,你在这场比赛里是裁判。”这个工作确实不轻松,我尊敬裁判,不过有时候,我会不同意他们的判罚,如果你希望有一个好的联赛,快速的比赛,你就需要保护那些有技术的球员,因为他们是能表演的球员,是球迷喜欢看的球员,在英超联赛里,有很多非常好的裁判。

足球场上的表演,对你来说有多重要?
这就是我的生活方式,我喜欢让球迷来到球场里,能够看到一些精彩的控球,漂亮的假动作,不过你做这些,必须要能够令球队获益,你不需要在每一场比赛里都完成得很漂亮,球迷必须要理解这一点。

你在球队里最好的朋友是谁?
我和每一个人都有很好的关系,和这里的每一名球员都有很好的沟通,我在这里能经常说葡萄牙语,像纳尼,安德森,拉斐尔和曼奴乔,他们都能说葡萄牙语,不过我也能和特维斯,埃弗拉,费迪南德,维迪奇和范德萨等人沟通,我们的关系都非常好!
